This drawing was based on a dream that I had, which reimagined the common falling nightmare. The feathery texture and smooth movement of the tranquil clouds help to assign the dreamer liberation and control instead of fear and paralysis.

This painting captures the ways in which a mind escapes boredom. The use of various textures and colors over a warm brown background as well as the presence of common classroom items serve to facilitate creativity amongst the mundane.

By varying the orientation of different boxes throughout the work and utilizing highly contrasting light and shadow, depth is created. The artificial colors chosen also help to build the fantasy within these boxes.

At the Theatre

Aiming to capture the wide range of emotions felt when at the theatre, I played with the perspective of both the audience and the actors. The contrast between flowing translucent lines over a crisply laid backdrop generates feelings of drama and chaos amongst the order, while the use of scrunched up paper in small clear boxes creates restriction.

Morning Bedroom

In this work, contrast is developed between the black and white
bedroom and the predominantly blue view from the windows, seemingly forming two distinct worlds. However, the use of airy textures and continuous light throughout both parts serves to unite them.

This work aims to portray the beautiful view from a stained glass window in a surreal manner. The reduction of certain buildings, objects, and people to simple shapes and lines, as well as the use of bright pastel colors creates a fantastical appearance.
